Therapist Profile
Every therapist has a story. Thank you for taking the time to read about mine and I hope it provides you with helpful information as you navigate choosing the right provider to support you with your mental health treatment goals.
Background
I always felt a calling from a young age to listen to the stories of others. I come from a Cajun French family where the sharing and telling of stories was an important way to connect and pass time. It was also a way to exchange wisdom and learn from one another.
I did not know I wanted to become a psychologist... I'm not sure I even heard of the word "psychology" until I started my educational journey at a community college in South Louisiana.
I watched many people struggle with their mental health while growing up in rural Louisiana. As a curious child with a lot of big feelings who grew into a curious young adult, I decided to study psychology as a first-generation college student because I believed it would help me find the answers I was searching for.
I not only learned to better understand myself and my own story throughout my education and training, but I also learned how to help and support others in creating the ideal story they hope for and the story they deserve.

My Therapy Approach
I'm an integrative therapist and will use a variety of therapeutic techniques to create a personalized treatment plan with you. I will use a combination of different therapy methods, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, to help you achieve your long-term goals. This flexible approach allows us to work together and focus on what you specifically need throughout your treatment. As I get to know you better and understand your concerns, I may also use other proven therapy techniques to support you.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that is structured and based on proven methods. It helps people by focusing on changing negative thoughts and behaviors that can affect mental health. Instead of just looking at past experiences, CBT teaches you useful skills to handle current challenges in your life. This therapy works by helping you see how certain situations automatically trigger your thoughts and feelings, and then it aims to change those thoughts to help you feel better overall. CBT skills training can allow for you to make better decisions and experience more positive emotions in your daily life.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Our emotions tell us what we need, what we value, and what's important to us. Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is a kind of therapy that helps you understand and deal with your feelings. Instead of avoiding tough emotions, it encourages you to face and work through them. This can lead to positive changes in how you think and act, by looking at the deeper emotional patterns that contribute to your struggles. EFT also helps people build a better relationship with their feelings, allowing them to understand and even appreciate difficult emotions like sadness and anxiety.

Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy is a way of helping you see yourself as the expert in your own life. You will be empowered to rewrite your story by highlighting your strengths and positive experiences instead of just focusing on your problems. This approach helps you understand that you are not defined by your challenges, allowing you to take a step back and look at life’s difficulties from a healthier perspective.
How an Integrative Approach can help
An integrative approach is a personalized way of therapy that combines different techniques. Instead of sticking to just one method, or a one-size-fits-all, it adapts the treatment to fit each person's unique needs. This way, it takes into account all parts of a person's well-being. There are many advantages to using an integrative approach, including:

It lets the therapist change the treatment plan based on how the client's needs change over time, instead of using a fixed method for everyone.
Flexibility
Holistic Perspective
It allows therapists to consider various parts of a client’s life, such as their feeling, thoughts, actions, and physical health.
Greater Client Engagement
By giving clients a variety of tools and techniques, they can feel more empowered to manage life’s problems and feel more motivated to engage in therapy.
Addressing Complex Issues
Life can sometimes get complicated. Sometimes people face problems that need different ways to solve them. An integrative approach allows for identifying and trying out different solutions.
Alternatives
Not all individuals are guaranteed to benefit from an integrative approach and some people prefer to receive treatment by therapists that specialize in treating a particular problem or offer treatment through one single approach or modality.
