II. Treatment Modalities:
My clinical orientation is integrative, with primary use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with use of other evidence-informed techniques and approaches (e.g., Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions). Interventions are selected in accordance with best practices, empirical support, and the client’s presenting concerns.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
1. CBT is a type of therapy that is structured and based on proven methods. It helps people by focusing on changing negative thoughts and behaviors that can affect mental health.
2. Instead of just looking at past experiences, CBT teaches useful skills to handle current challenges in a person’s life. This therapy works by helping individuals see how certain situations automatically trigger thoughts and feelings, and then it aims to change those thoughts to help individuals feel better overall.
3. CBT skills training can allow for individuals to make better decisions and experience more positive emotions in their daily life.
IV. Integrative Approach - Benefits
An integrative approach is a personalized way of therapy that combines different techniques. Instead of sticking to just one method, or a one-size-fits-all, it adapts the treatment to fit each person's unique needs. This way, it takes into account all parts of a person's well-being. There are many advantages to using an integrative approach.
A. Flexibility
An integrative approach is client-centered and lets the therapist change the treatment plan based on how the client's needs change over time, instead of using a fixed method for everyone.
B. Holistic Perspective
It allows therapists to consider various parts of a client’s life, such as their feeling, thoughts, actions, and physical health.
C. Greater Client Engagement
By giving clients a variety of tools and techniques, they can feel more empowered to manage life’s problems and feel more motivated to engage in therapy.
D. Addressing Complex Issues
Life can sometimes get complicated. Sometimes people face problems that need different ways to solve them. An integrative approach allows for identifying and trying out different solutions.
V. Integrative Approach – Limitations
Not all individuals are guaranteed to benefit from an integrative approach and some people prefer to receive treatment by therapists that specialize in treating a particular problem or offer treatment through one single approach or modality.
